Skincare mistakes AGING your skin faster than you can IMAGINE!

Is it possible to age faster than normal?

Yes, it is possible.

No, if you don’t make these mistakes

  • Not removing makeup before sleeping

Imagine you’re back from a party and you did a full glam makeup look consisting of primer, foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, shimmer, eyeshadow and topped it off with a makeup fixing spray. You literally have 8 layers of makeup blocking your skin. If you sleep with ALL this on for the whole night, it’s like suffocating your skin with a plastic bag for the entire night.

Please don’t sleep with makeup on your skin. Don’t do this please.

  • Not using skincare on neck

If you’re reading this and you don’t apply skincare on your neck……. You are in the right place.

Many people forget to give the same importance to their neck as they would do to their face. Don’t forget your neck is more delicate than your face and it requires the same, if not more, attention you give to your face. Start applying your cleansers, moisturisers, serums and toners to your face and neck.

  • Being scared of retinol

RETINOL has amazing antiaging benefits but many shy away from using it because of skin drying.

The key is to use pro-retinol instead of retinol which is a gentler form of retinol and works perfectly for sensitive skin. Look for products containing 0.5% pro-retinol paired with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, passionfruit oil, rosehip oil and argan oil. You can try Skin Renewal Pro Retinol collagen night cream if you're new to retinol and have acne prone & sensitive skin.

  • Using skin lightening products like bleach

Bleaching products may lighten your skin or give a brighter complexion but at a big cost. The results are temporary but the after effects are permanent. Common lightening products include mercury which can be toxic to your skin and also cause serious problem in body organs like kidney, liver and brain.

  • Cleansing your face multiple times in a day

Ideally one should wash face not more than twice a day in summers and once in winters. Always choose a gentle, hydrating and gel-based facewash having hydrating ingredients like manuka honey, aloe vera, glycerine, green tea extracts and preferably free of paraben and sulphates.

  • Using harsh scrubs or physical exfoliators too often

We are often tempted to exfoliate our body especially face with grainy scrubs with big exfoliating particles that create tiny cuts on our skin. In short term it results in clear skin but in the long term it enlarges pores which creates texture on our skin. Textured skin doesn’t look good and with time dirt and makeup settles in these pores, causing whiteheads and blackheads.

  • Skipping moisturiser during summers or if you have oily skin

It’s a myth that oily skin doesn’t need hydration because it produces enough oil to moisturize itself. However, all skin types require external hydration. You can choose a light weight or gel-based moisturiser or night cream for oily skin like Skin Renewal that works perfectly for dullness, pigmentation and acne spots.

  • Drinking less water during the day

Even I’m a victim of this mistake! Ideally our body requires 1.5 litres of water to stay healthy, hydrated and happy. You can try to incorporate things like water reminder apps, cute water bottles with timestamps to drink water or an accountability partner to help keep yourself hydrated.

  • Not following a simple & consistent skincare routine

You can’t expect a new skincare product to work on your skin immediately after you’ve started using it.

CONSISTENCY is important in everything especially in skincare. Your skin takes time to adjust to new products and if you keep switching products for better results then you won’t find results with any of the products. Give at least 2-3 weeks to every new product you try and let it work its magic.

Have a happy skin day!
